Location and posing are some of our tips for a successful senior portrait

As a senior in high school, one of the most important milestones you will experience is your senior portrait. This is a chance for you to capture your unique personality and style, and to look back on this special time in your life with fond memories. Here in East Texas, you have a wide range of options for your portrait session. Here are some tips to help you create a stunning and memorable portrait that showcases who you are.

Location and wardrobe are some of our tips for a successful senior portrait

Location

First, think about the location. East Texas is full of beautiful natural settings that can provide a stunning backdrop for your photos. Whether you prefer the beaches of our beautiful lakes, or the rugged charm of a ranch, there is sure to be a location that suits your personality and style. If you’re not sure where to start, talk to me about my favorite locations and see if any of them resonate with you.  Our studio offers custom sessions where you can pick your favorite location AND use our photography studio as well.  You no longer have to worry about our crazy, unpredictable weather!  Check out this example of  Dalton, a senior from Quitman High School, in our studio!

Wardrobe

Next, consider your wardrobe. Your outfit can say a lot about you, so choose something that makes you feel confident and comfortable. For a classic look, consider wearing a suit or blazer with a tie. If you’re more of a casual guy, opt for a button-up shirt or a simple t-shirt and jeans. Don’t be afraid to add a personal touch, such as a favorite accessory or piece of jewelry.  Dalton chose a tux that we have here in the studio in our wardrobe closet.  Then, he paired it with his favorite shades.  His mom will LOVE this look!

When it comes to posing, the key is to be natural and relaxed. Don’t worry, we will give you some guidance on how to stand and where to look, but ultimately, the goal is to capture your true personality and spirit. Don’t be afraid to be yourself and let your unique qualities shine through.

Have fun!

Finally, don’t forget to have fun! Your senior portrait is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, so enjoy the process and make some memories along the way. Bring a friend or family member to share in the experience, and take some time to reflect on all the hard work and accomplishments that have brought you to this point.

Just so you know, during your senior portrait session, we like to have fun too!  Here you can see my biggest fan, my sweet hubby (and a surprise guest at the end!) https://www.tiktok.com/@lorrainehowardphoto/video/7206071434668559658

And remember, your senior portrait is a chance to showcase your personality and style in a way that will be cherished for years to come. Whether you choose a natural setting or a classic studio look, focus on being true to yourself and making the experience enjoyable and memorable. With a little planning and creativity, your senior portrait can be a true work of art.
